Storm's Coming
oil on canvas, 18" x 24"
$500 unframed
I've been to Taos, New Mexico five times - to study painting, to fish, hike, and just enjoy the unique peace of the high desert. I've always loved old trucks and a storm was rolling in just as I took the photo used for this painting. There is a great variation of color and texture in this piece - and given the current situation with FORD, I thought the title was perfect.
Bonefishing Belize
oil on canvas, 18" x 24"
$4,000 original framed
This painting is my most sought after. It has been requested in giclee form; therefore, two sizes of limited edition (of 150) giclees have been produced. The original size of 18x24, and a substantial 14x18. The giclees are of the highest quality and deemed an exact match by several artists.
Searching the salt pond
oil on canvas 24" x 30"
$1,500 w/ solid burl frame
Wandering the salt pond searching for fish, crabs and blood worms in Rhode Island—this child's concentration is nicely balanced by his relaxed body pose. This large, loosely painted piece brings the feeling of the warm summer sun indoors. Beautifully framed in 'red' burl.
Bee in Monet's Garden
oil on canvas 20" x 24"
$490 framed
I painted this while working at the Silvermine Art Guild in Connecticut. It was the last of a long series of watercolors completed before our move to Virginia. The scene is from an open air room at Chaa Creek in Belize, gazing out into the rainforest upon waking. The smells coming through the window in June were an incredible mix of rainforest flowers. The painting is very detailed in its small format.
Echinacea flower
oil on canvas 18" x 24"
$275
Whenever I've taken a break from painting (such as when I've had babies or moved) I get started again with a simple composition. This Echinacea flower captured my attention with the combinations of orange, brown, green and vibrant pinks. This painting brings a great deal of life and energy to a room.
Crab at Sunrise
oil on canvas 16" x 20"
$475 framed
This painting was inspired by a picture of an adorable crab at sunrise. The photo was taken in Utila, Honduras during a whale shark expedition (tagging sharks for research). Although the photograph was underexposed and dark, I added some color to make the oil painting a bit more fun. This painting was one of the first I completed when we made the move in 2005 from New York to Charlottesville, Virginia.
Salmon fishing in Alaska
oil on canvas 20" x 30"
$1,750 framed
This fly fishing painting was inspired by a trip to Alaska while fishing for silver salmon, king salmon, sockeye salmon, rainbow trout and grayling. The flowers were in full bloom, which provided me with a great opportunity create lively texture with the palette knife. The rich array of greens in this painting draw the viewer into the Spring atmosphere. I used a large, long canvas to capture the full length of the fly rod and a portion of the line.
Rainforest Sleeping
watercolor on cotton paper 8" x 10"
$800 framed
The photo for this painting was taken in Monet's Garden in Giverny, France. The center of the flower is well textured, while the petal brushstrokes are long and smooth. The reflection of the bee's wings and the vibrant color in bright sunlight make this painting an attention grabber.
Jeremy's Run Brookie – Green
oil on canvas 20" x 30"
$500 framed | Giclèe 20" x 30", unframed: $210
This painting is the third part of a 3-piece series that focuses on an Eastern Brook Trout. The fish was caught in the small creek in the Shenandoah National Park called Jeremy's Run. The first step to this piece included a digitally altered photo of an eastern Brook Trout. I then used the altered photograph to inspire my painting which consists of a strong green foundation while maintaining the more traditional red spots.
Jeremy's Run Brookie – Blue
oil on canvas 20" x 30"
$500 framed | Giclèe 20" x 30", unframed: $200
This painting is the second part of a 3-piece series that focuses on an Eastern Brook Trout. This canvas is the most abstract, having started with a severely saturated photograph—taking the photo as far into the blue range as possible. I used the altered photograph to inspire my painting which consists of a strong ultramarine purple and ultramarine blue foundation with lime-green, yellow, and hot pink spots and highlights.
